The importance of research in innovation: Undeniable

It has rightly been said for ages that ‘’necessity is the mother of invention’’. In today’s fast-paced digital world, creativity and innovation go hand by hand. It can also be noted that innovation is the backbone of a stable economy that can withstand the competition of a dynamic market that comprises of various challenges. Students unless and until given intensive training in new age concepts would not be able to counterfeit the challenges at the workplace. Tremendous research has gone into innovating, creating new ideas and making these new concepts available in the form of well-researched curriculum and pedagogy. These courses and curriculum help the young learners to be ahead of the curve.
Governments, educational bodies, schools, and universities are fast realizing the need to equip students with new-age skills that can help them be job-ready. The fact is that the pedagogy at the school and in institutes of higher learning lack interdisciplinary knowledge and skills which help students to get a competitive edge in the job market. With skills and expertise in innovative concepts, they land up jobs with better pay packages in top organizations as compared to the contemporaries who have not obtained any training that can add value to their skills and aptitude. Any innovation or any idea development requires intensive research, especially academic study that leads to the development of further ideas and concepts. The fact that research and development is a continuous process and to reach the desired outcomes which may lead to unexpected results needs constant analysis.
It is disheartening to see that there’s a lot of gap between what the students know and what employers expect them to know. The result is that they are not equipped with skills that make them job-ready. The gap leads to low employment while employers always look for skilled workers that match their requirements. With research, several factors are looked into such as market research, implementation feasibility that pave the way for a better sustainable future. Innovations are a result of regular efforts as during research one might stumble upon another discovery that can lead to unexpected gains. So, the approach is towards research with the best of the intentions and allowing oneself to open to ideas that improve the possibility of the goal one wants to achieve and objectives which might be accomplished all along the way. A linear path is not to be followed, but distractions should be allowed to make the diversion an acceptable activity.
With innovation, a workplace can become a competitive place that can give the toughest competition to global companies. What is lacking at the academic level ought to be compensated with a new age curriculum and courses that can change the dynamics of pedagogy at school and university level. It would equip the young generation- the potential human resource with skills, knowledge, and training that can make them take up jobs immediately after completing their education. Business organizations will then directly provide placements to the students who can immediately join without undergoing additional training. Thus, fundamental research is imperative to innovation, and its importance cannot be denied at any level. Starting with a vision, one needs to be open to ideas that can make the future of the new workforce and as well as that of the corporate sector where employees will upgrade their skills and expand their knowledge.
